My 2016 In Review

2015 was I'd say one of the best years I've ever had, so I was pretty excited to head into 2016 with the intentions of it being even better. It didn't turn out quite how I imagined it would towards the end of the year, but I do have to admit the first half of the year was pretty amazing.

The year started off with a bang, getting drunk and having the time of my life with some of my closest friends. The first day of the year started with a terrible hangover but I was out to make 2016 my best year yet.

With this new found attitude to life I set some goals for the year, goals that I really, really wanted to achieve. One of those goals was to learn to drive, so near the end of January I plucked up some courage and messaged a driving instructor, she had a month's waiting list but I knew she was one of the best instructors in town so I waited for a whole month for a space and by the end of February I was behind the wheel of a car. I loved it, I had the best instructor a girl could ask for and 6 months later I passed my test. I now even have a car of my very own too.

Sometime around May my boss asked me if I wanted to train as a Supervisor, my colleague is pregnant and they needed another Supervisor to take her place so I said yes! It's a great opportunity for somebody my age, and plus I get an extra two pound an hour. It may not seem like much but after it's all added up at the end of the month there is a huge difference. So after a few months I began to be trained and at the beginning of December I had my very first shift as a Supervisor. It was scary as hell for the first time, but I absolutely love it now.

The highlight of my year was definitely going to London on holiday for a week at the end of July, I went with three other friends and it was the best week of my life. London is my favourite place in the world I think I've ever been to and I'm dying to get back there. If I had the chance to spend longer than a week in the city I think I would be really happy. I don't get to go on holidays much anymore so I made sure that London would be fantastic. I had the time of my life doing tourist things and visiting some of the landmarks, I'm excited to show my mum everything when we go down in the summer.

Although 2016 has been a breakthrough year for me, and I've spent my time doing things I would never even imagine, and I've pushed myself to do things that scare me. The latter half of the year felt like a rush though, it went really quickly and it felt like time was passing me by, I was getting stressed all the time and I wasn't in the right frame of mind to do anything which made me even more unhappy. I wanted to write but I would always be doing other things instead. I feel like the New Year is bringing back some of the positivity I had this time last year because I'm excited to see what 2017 has in store.

I'm looking forward to it though, all of my favourite bands and artists are bringing new music out, there are some great films that are planning to come out and I keep binge watching TV shows so I'll never be left for months without having something to watch! I'm also hopefully going to see a few bands at the beginning of the year including All Time Low in March (fave band ever). And I booked tickets to see Adele in Wembley Stadium in July with my mum as part of her early 50th birthday present. I'm really looking forward to it.

2016 as a whole has been pretty nasty, we've had the nightmares that are Brexit and Trump and we've lost an insane amount of dearly loved celebrities. I'm honestly glad it's over and hopefully 2017 is so much better than the train wreck that's was 2016.

Happy New Year to everyone and all the best for 2017.
