I am a big fan of Dan and Phil, and I have been for years. I can honestly say that they are my favourites. Youtubers come and go but there's just something about these two that always keeps me coming back. So obviously I was VERY excited when they announced they were writing a book.
(WARNING THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS SO IF YOU DON'T WANT THAT THEN STOP READING NOW)
Over the past couple of years, every youtuber and their mums have been releasing books, which has sort of created a bad stigma that youtubers are just releasing books because of the money it will bring in. Many people lashed out at these guys for "jumping on the bandwagon" when it was first announced. But any fan of Dan and Phil know that they would never do something just for the sake of it or for money. You can clearly tell that they've put so much hard work into this book and it's very Dan and Phil like.
The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire (which is the only time I'm writing that out by the way, so from now on it will be TABINOF) isn't like an actual book in terms of layout. It's more of a scrapbook type thing which I am in love with.
Both Dan and Phil have seperate pages for each of their life stories and it's split up into sections, such as their births, their school and university lives and how they both got started on youtube. The book includes the layouts of their Manchester flat and their apartment in London (which has had us all baffled, lets be honest). They've filled out roommate assessment forms for each other too!
There is a tutorial on how to draw the perfect cat whiskers and there is a quiz to find out which Dan and Phil chair are you. I got purple if anybody is wondering! Which are really cool ideas to set the book apart from other books that are being released.
Throughout the book there are double pages of their wardrobes. Such as their clothes and shoes and even their sock drawers! I think these are really cool because they contrast each other perfectly.
They tell the story of how they got started on Radio 1, it all started with the "blindfolded cat-face game" and they tell the tale of that time they met One Direction. There are even pages dedicated to the one word story game, reasons why Dan's a fail, and things Phil thought were true that are not true.
They both have their own pages of trivia and the behind the scenes of their videos, which include the other side of their cameras (it looks so weird by the way), how they come up with their video ideas and how long it usually takes them to edit.
Dan and Phil include their recent trip to Japan and tell us what happened on their holiday, including where they visited and what they did. After reading this it's made me want to go to Japan, because it looks incredible! They also finally tell us what happens in Vegas, which was shocking! I'm not going to give the surprise away, so you can read it yourself.
They have a special bit in the book for DanAndPhilGAMES, which includes why they made the channel, how they decide what games they want to play and they even include a little draw my life by Dil which is so cute!
If you want to read fanfiction then Dan and Phil have included that as well! Both of them have wrote short Dan and Phil fanfictions and they sort of leave you wanting more.. They should seriously consider just writing fanfiction for the rest of their lives.
As I pre-ordered off the Dan and Phil Shop I got these adorable pixel stickers and a bookmark too! I was expecting the bookmark to be paper or something but it feels sort of leathery and it's such a good quality!
I can promise, if you read TABINOF you'll be so entertained and you'll never want to put it down. You get so much more new information in the book, so you're not reading things you already know from their videos. You can tell that they've put their heart and souls in this book, it's obvious they've spent their time perfecting it and they definitely haven't rushed it.
