Here we are again, I can't believe it's been four months already! Time has flown by. So here are the next four months in my series: May-August.
May kicked off with a gig of a band I'd never heard of before. Every year we have a sort of music festival in the town, it's not outdoors like normal festivals it takes place in a dozen different venues and you can buy a weekend ticket or just a ticket for a particular show. The show we went to showcased different bands and artists and then the band that we wanted to see called Astroid Boys were headlining. They sort of mix rock with grime and rap and it totally worked. The place was packed and we were right at the front, it was hectic in the best way possible. Astroid Boys definitely know how to put on a good show. I really enjoyed it actually, more than I thought I would. I need to go to more impromptu gigs, it was really fun.
At the start of June I finally plucked up the courage to get another tattoo, I've been threatening it for about a year now. I had my designs and ideas and everything, I just needed to find an artist. My answer came in the form of one of my customers from work. It seems like he had tattooed every single person who comes into the shop and every tattoo I had seen had been amazing. I visited his studio in town and after a deposit and an appointment I was eagerly awaiting my second trip to the studio. I was nervous and excited and I came away with this beauty. It took about two and a half hours to complete and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be thankfully. My tattoo artist made me feel so comfortable there it was like I was there with a friend. The only problem now though is that I really want another one and I can't afford it!! I'll have to see if I can sacrifice something else so that I can book another tattoo. No doubt I'll have another one before the year is out.
I also started going to the gym regularly! I joined in December and I literally went once a month, it was terrible. Then my coworker told me she joined and she needed a buddy for a course with a personal trainer. I jumped at the chance, I wanted to lose a bit of weight and just improve my fitness really. I used to go and then die after 5 minutes after which I would usually give up. I haven't lost any weight really in the 2 months that I've been doing it unfortunately (that's my fault really I haven't got the whole eating thing sorted out, plus I have lots of nights out which includes lots of alcohol. Honestly I don't even know why I bother with the gym sometimes!) I do however know I'm stronger now, I can keep up with a whole lot more than what I could when I first started and I don't feel like I'm dying after 5 minutes. Our personal trainer keeps upping the intensity of the workouts every week too, if I were to do the workouts I'm doing now when I first started I would have probably quit the gym there and then.
July started off with a visit to London with my parents. I bought my mum Adele tickets as an early birthday present but unfortunately it was one of the shows that she cancelled, so we thought we'd still try and make the most of the weekend anyway. We had already booked a few days down there so we could sightsee too, so instead of seeing Adele on the Sunday we went to The Tower Of London. We had a guided tour from one of the beefeaters and spent the majority of the day learning about the history of London and the Tower. It was weird going with my parents instead of my friends, my friends and I would usually go shopping and do all of the super touristy things like The London Eye and Sea Life and stuff like that. My parents and I however walked miles and miles around London and I saw a lot more of London than I did with my friends. We saw St Paul's, walked along the Millenium Bridge (which will forever remind me of Harry Potter) and walked along the southbank. I enjoyed it a lot, even though our main reason for going down got cancelled.
I also bought a new car in July, my last car brought me no end of trouble which in turn made me not want to drive it unfortunately. I needed a change so I bought a Mini One. I originally wanted a Mini in the first place but I let other people's decisions influence what car I bought. I loved my Polo at the start but then everything seemed to go wrong with it and it always sounded funny when I was driving it. Now I've got my little Mini I feel okay in driving again. I should have gone with my gut in the first place and stood my ground when I wanted to buy a Mini. I can't wait to start going on little adventures now!
August felt like a busy month, I felt like I didn't stop. After working non stop I had a week away in Barmouth with my family. It was nice getting away from life for a bit. I hardly used my phone, my nephews always wanted to go to the beach and the sea is my favourite thing in the entire world so I felt right at home. It was nice and relaxing and I think it was what I never knew I needed. Then I was back home for half a week and before I knew it I was on the train to Reading Festival. We planned to go to Leeds at the very start but decided if we were doing it, then we were doing it properly. Which was the best decision ever in the end because the weather in Leeds was rainy apparently and we got 27 degree sunshine down south. It was really hot but I'd rather be hot than swimming in mud, especially at a festival. I eventually got used to the heat in the end but I did get really sunburnt despite putting loads of suncream on. We also managed to meet two guys from the same town as us. Only we can travel to the other side of the country and meet people from Wrexham. Highlights of Reading include You Me At Six who were amazing. This was my second time seeing them and it seems they've got even better! Don Broco whose not so secret set was packed out but made it even better. I definitely want to see them again. Eminem who made me feel like I was eleven again and Muse who I've loved for most of my life, it was amazing hearing some of my favourite songs live. I loved every minute of my first ever music festival and I can't wait to go back again next year.
I'm really looking forward to the next four months, Autumn and Winter are my favourite seasons. I can't wait to start digging out my comfy jumpers and wearing fluffy socks. Plus it's Halloween, my Birthday and Christmas too, so that's a bonus! I've not got a lot planned so it will be a lot quieter than the summer months but nevertheless I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully these last four months will be better than last year.
