Bedroom Makeover

I'm one of those people who gets bored easily by their surroundings, I think I move furniture more than my whole family does put together. I recently visited IKEA with my parents and I bought some new things. I've been wanting to redecorate my room for a while now but I needed to find storage space before I could do anything. I have the smallest room in the house which gets pretty cramped sometimes because of the amount of stuff I actually have.

I've still got a bit more left to do in my room, I'm looking into putting a wooden floor down, because let's face it.. Cream carpet and a clumsy girl that does her make up on the floor doesn't really go well together. I thought that if I had flooring instead of carpet then I could just wipe off the make up that I spill and it would be as if it never happened!

But back to the makeover. Here's what it looked like before. I planned on taking more photographs of my room but I got caught up in sorting things out that I completely forgot about it, and then when I did my room was in shambles. These pictures are from when I first bought my bed and switched my room around last year so please excuse the awful phone quality!

I had this tall unit which was only really housing clothes in the bottom draw, I loved this when I first got it but as time has gone on I've really hated it so it HAD to go. I've sorted out through everything and got rid of all the junk that was inside of it, which was a lot. And now I can finally get rid of it (and by get rid of I actually mean put it in the spare bedroom.)

And this is what it looks like now, not much has changed drastically, but I feel like it looks so much better now than it did before. And my room looks weirdly bigger too which is a massive plus for me. P.S. Excuse the suitcase, I've only just bought it and it is yet to find a home.

The main thing that has changed in this room is these shelves, I already had the cube of four shelves from my last trip to IKEA, but I was fast running out of storage space and these shelves seemed like the best idea, these are part of the KALLAX series and this particular one cost £39. I feel like it just adds something to the room and the height sort of breaks up the room because everything else is really low on the floor. I had to buy the draws separately which cost £17 each for a set of two, but with me losing make-up and beauty product space from the unit I got rid of I thought I better get something to replace them.

I feel like I need to buy something to go on top of these chest of drawers, it's looking a bit empty, I'm not sure whether it's because it's big or whether it's because I'm so used to having things on it. I have been looking online and I've found some cute trinket trays and little decorations so I might buy them and see what they look like on top of it.

I'm really liking this new set up in my bedroom, it might sound weird but I feel it looks 'older'. I said exactly the same thing the last time and I probably said it the time before that too, but there's just something about those shelves that scream 'I'm an organised adult!'. I'm curious to know how long it will last until I eventually change my mind all over again.
