Blogmas Day 9 - My Favourite Film & TV Shows of 2015

I've watched a lot in 2015.. Some things I'm finding years after they were released, some new releases that I've been following the lead up to. So here is a little blog post on the things I've been loving throughout 2015.

First up are films,

Ant Man - Ant Man is a film that's part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It follows a man called Scott Lang who's just been released from prison for robbery, he is struggling with money so he falls back into old habits and breaks into a house and steals a suit. He then tries on the suit and finds out that the suit shrinks to the size of an ant, he meets the suits owner Hank Pym who he works with to try and save the world.

Big Hero 6 - I don't know if you could class this as a film that came out last year or this year, as it came out last year in the US but this year in the UK. It's about a boy called Hiro who forms a close bond with an inflatable robot named Baymax who was created by Hiro's brother for healthcare. Hiro goes on an unexpected adventure with Baymax and his friends to help save the city of San Fransokyo from the villain who wants to take over. It's a super cute film with funny and sad moments, perfect for the whole family.. I really want to watch it again now I'm writing about it!

X-Men - I know I'm late, the first one came out in 2000! But 2015 was the year I finally watched all of them from start to finish. There are 7 films and they all follow a group of characters called 'mutants' who all have special powers, like telepathy, controlling magnetic fields or shapeshifting. Each film they face a different problem and they have to work together to try and defeat the bad guys..  I'm glad I finally watched them all, I did watch Days of Future Past last year in the cinema but I didn't fully understand what was happening because I hadn't seen the first 6 films!

Paper Towns - I had been excited for this film since I saw they were making it last year, after seeing the incredible job they did with transforming The Fault In Our Stars from book to screen I had high hopes for Paper Towns as well. They didn't disappoint! I thought Nat and Cara did a great job. Paper Towns is about a boy called Quentin who's childhood friend (and also neighbour) Margo has disappeared, he spends the majority of the film finding and following clues about Margo's whereabouts.

Love, Rosie - This film came out last year but I only found out about it after I saw somebody recommending it on Twitter. I can't say no to a rom-com so I quickly bought it and watched it. It was so cute! Definitely one of my favourite rom-coms I've seen in the past few years. It's about two friends Rosie and Alex who have been friends since they were 5, at the age of 18 their lives get thrown in two different directions, one goes to America and one stays in the UK but will they finally realise their feelings for each other?

Now TV..

Arrow - Arrow has quickly become one of my favourite TV shows this year, I had been meaning to watch it for months but at the start of this year I finally got around to watching it. I loved it. It's about a man named Oliver Queen who had been stranded on a desert island for 5 years, he finally comes home but he's learned a lot on the island he's been stuck on. He becomes the 'Arrow' and he vows to keep his city safe with the help of a few close friends.

The Flash - I watched this along with Arrow and I watched them both so quickly, and at the wrong time too because after watching it non stop for a week I then had to wait months for a new episode. The Flash is about a man called Barry Allen who was struck by lightening after a freak accident, he wakes up from a coma and he finds out that he's the fastest man alive. He must embrace these new powers to find others like him and fight those who have turned bad. He also has a team of people who help him to keep his city safe.

Pretty Little Liars - I still have to watch the rest of this! I got about halfway into season 5 after marathoning it and then life got in the way so I had to stop watching! Pretty Little Liars is about a group of 4 friends who had gone their separate ways after their 'leader' had gone missing. They are drawn back together after they all start to get messages of somebody called 'A', they initially think it's their missing friend playing a prank on them. But after her body is found they're all left wondering who is out to destroy their lives.

Empire - This show is about the Lyon family who are running a music company called Empire. It follows the lives of the owner of the company Lucious, his 3 children and his ex-wife Cookie who has recently just got out of prison. The mix of the music setting in this show and the drama filled episodes makes it such a great watch. It's one of the shows that I look forward to every week.

What has been your favourite film or tv show this year?
