Please don't kill me but it's taken me years and years to finally watch Star Wars. I'm 20 next week and I'm only just watching them now. I've only watched the original trilogy and the first episode of the prequels, but I'm hopefully going to watch the rest sometime over the weekend.
I don't understand how it's taken me this long to watch them as my cousin is a huge fan and so are most of my friends. I think it was because I was into my Disney princess films when I was little and then as I grew up they never appealed to me.
That being said, I did want to watch them at least once in my life and these past couple of years I've gotten into the Sci-Fi genre a lot more, and Star Wars kept jumping higher and higher on my list of films I needed to watch. So with The Force Awakens coming out today and Sky adding them to their box sets, I thought that it was about time I watched them.
I absolutely loved the original trilogy, I can definitely see what all the fuss is about! I'm kind of mad at myself for not watching them when I was little but it's better late than never! I did enjoy the first episode of the prequel but not as much as the original three. I'm excited to see the other two and of course the new one as well.
I can't decide which one is my favourite yet, maybe The Empire Strikes Back. I'm going to have to watch them again.. Just to make sure..
It's such an easily recogniseable franchise, with the scrolling words at the start of each film, to the sound of Darth Vader breathing. Everybody knows what they are and where they are from, even those of us who have never seen it before. I don't know, I just think that it's sort of incredible how a film has had such a big impact on the world.
