It's almost Halloween, which means it's time to get spooky and start watching a LOT of horror films. I've compiled a list of horror films that are perfect for Halloween.
Halloween (1978) - Halloween is about a man called Michael Myers who kills his sister on the night of Halloween in 1963, at just 6 years old. After 15 years of being institutionalised he breaks out the day before Halloween to return to his hometown, where he searches for his next victims. It's one of the first 'classic' horror films I watched and I always watch this around Halloween.
The Shining (1980) - Another classic, it takes place in a haunted hotel where Jack Torrence is working as a caretaker. He invites his wife and son along too.. Eventually things start happening to the Torrence family and Jack is the one who takes the most of it, he starts losing it completely and he even tries to kill his own family. It's a really creepy film and it's one of my favourites. Definitely one to watch on Halloween.
The Exorcist (1973) - This is one of those films where you have to watch it at least once in your lifetime, what better excuse to watch it than on Halloween! The Exorcist is about a young girl called Regan who becomes possessed by a demon, two priests are called in to perform an exorcism to save Regan from the entity that is possessing her.
The Conjuring (2013) - This is one of the best horror films I've seen in the past couple of years, it is full of tension and there is more than enough scary parts to keep you engaged throughout the film. It is about a family who move into a new farmhouse which turns out to be haunted by evil spirits who target the family wherever they go. They call in two ghost hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren to try and defeat the evil that's in the house.
Shaun Of The Dead (2004) - While this film isn't scary it's also one of the best zombie films I've seen. It follows the story of two friends Shaun and Ed who are going about their everyday lives when zombies overrun the town, they then make a plan to get Shaun's ex-girlfriend and his mum and step-dad and go to the only place they know safe, their local pub. It's hilariously funny and it's full of British humour.
The Addams Family (1991) - The Addams Family is a more family friendly film, but it's one of my favourites to watch on Halloween. This follows Gomez Addams, his wife Morticia and their children Wednesday and Pugsley. The film is about how a con artist uses her son's uncanny resemblance to Gomez's brother Fester to steal the Addams' fortune.
